Targeting a Resume and Cover Letter:

To overcome the barrier of automated resume scanning systems (aka ATS or Applicant Tracking Systems), career advisors recommend a few steps to determine how to emphasize key words on a resume and cover letter.
  • TagCrowd - copy the content of a job bulletin / description into this tool to discover most-used key words. Not an exact science, just to give yourself a start.
    TagCrowd

  • Jobscan.co - paste your resume into this system, then paste a job description, to see how an ATS might score your application for the position.
jobscan.co Note: this site appears to have changed, and the tool appears to be available as a test here: jobscan tester
